THE VINES AND WINES OF ALSACE

EDELZWICKER: The grape varieties of Alsace are frequently mixed to give a harmonious wine traditionaly known as Edelzwicker. This goes well with entrees or as the base for the aperitif "Kir", a dry white wine and creme de cassis mix.     

SYLVANER: This produces a fresh and light wine with subtle note of fruit. A thirst quenching wine, it goes well with seafood, fish and charcuterie.
PINOT-BLANC: Subtle and delicate, this combines freshness and flexibility to represent a happy medium in the range of the wines of Alsace. The wines can be served with seafood, omelettes and goat's cheeses.
RIESLING: A hight quality wine, dry, delicately fruity, offering a bouquet of smooth mineral or flowery hints. This is a superb wine to go with food. Serve it with fish, seafood, withe meat and of course, choucroute.
MUSCAT Of ALSACE: Fruity and distinguishable from southern muscatels by its dry character. This wine has a delicious crisp freshness, and will go well eitheras an aperitif or with terrines or asparagus
TOKAY PINOT-GRIS: An opulent wine full of flavour. Full and roundet it has notes of woodland and smoke on the finish. It is excellent with foie gras, game and roast meats.
GEWURZTRAMINER: Full bodied, this wine develops a rich fruity flavour along with distinct tastes of flowers and spices. Powerful but smooth, it is perfect as an aperitif, with Asian cooking,with strong cheeses or dessert.
PINOT-NOIR: This is the only red grape in the Alsace. With distinct notes of cherry, this wine goes well with red meats, game, charcuterie, goats cheeses or a Gruyere.
